Since the inception of SIP based telephony it's been widely accepted as a UDP text based protocol. The drafters of RFC 2543 (and later 3261) accommodate SIP UDP with all its reliability challenges by specifying features like retransmission algorithms. Unfortunately, in some cases these extra features introduce problems including NAT traversal, retransmission absorbency, and encourage standards deviancy.

Four days of technology oriented meetings and social events marked the annual OpenSUSE conference. The OpenSUSE organization reported a participation of 225 attendees.
Those interested in the OpenSUSE Linux distribution were pleased to see a variety of people associated with various OpenSUSE projects, many from the Novell development office downtown Nürnberg. Carlos Montero-Luque, Ralf Flaxa, Gerald Pfeifer and Roland Haidl made appearances. The conference took place 17-20 September, 2009 at the vocational training institute in Nürnberg, Germany.
